Welcome

It is with great enthusiasm and anticipation that we invite you to attend the World Congress of Brachytherapy, featuring participants from the American Brachytherapy Society (ABS) and GEC/ESTRO, Alatro, CBG-CARO, JASTRO, AROI, IBS & ABG. Our meeting theme is «Driving Global Partnerships & Possibilities» and the meeting will be held at the San Francisco Hilton Union Square in the exciting city of San Francisco, from June 27 – 29. Peter Orio is our Scientific Program Chair for the meeting, and together with the co-chairs is putting together a very enriching and stimulating program. A wide variety of national and international speakers have been invited to present their data and to debate controversial issues. We will again offer the Judith Stitt Best Abstract Awards that will be highlighted in a plenary session. The Resident Travel Awards will continue to encourage resident involvement in the society and we will again offer a Resident’s Luncheon at our meeting. The GEC/ESTRO Marie-Curie Medal will also be awarded.

The Hilton San Francisco Union Square is located steps away from Union Square, the Theater District, Chinatown, Nob Hill and other local attractions.

A Welcome Reception will initiate the meeting to allow for networking. A membership luncheon on Tuesday will include the introduction of new Board members and review of ABS activities and initiatives. Vendors will be present over the course of the meeting to demonstrate state-of-the-art equipment, software and services of value to radiation oncologists practicing in this growing field of medicine.

We hope that you will join us in San Francisco in June, 2016. The meeting will offer a tremendous educational experience as well as a chance to relax in the great city of San Francisco. Along with our International colleagues, we invite you to participate in an incredible worldwide gathering of leaders in the field of brachytherapy.

David K. Gaffney, MD, PhD
President, American Brachytherapy Society
